How Did You Join the ISLT Program at FSU?
While working as an elementary school teacher in South Korea during the COVID-19 pandemic, I became increasingly concerned with teachers’ readiness to implement technology-integrated learning. I began to ask critical questions: How can teachers and students be meaningfully supported in learning with technology, not just for the sake of using it? These reflections led me to pursue a Ph.D. in Instructional Systems and Learning Technologies (ISLT). I chose FSU for its strong reputation, well-structured program, and commitment to supporting doctoral students through high-quality coursework and mentorship.
Introduction
I am a second-year Ph.D. student in the Instructional Systems and Learning Technologies program at Florida State University. Prior to joining the program in 2023, I spent three and a half years as an elementary school teacher in South Korea.
My research interests include teacher education, media literacy, and K–12 technology integration. Currently, I focus on how teachers form professional networks and engage in ongoing professional learning. I also serve as the instructor of record for EME2040: Introduction to Educational Technology, where I teach undergraduate students.
In my free time, I enjoy trail walking, playing soccer and tennis, and spending time in nature—I’m a firm believer in its restorative power.
