How Did You Join the ISLT Program at FSU?

I joined the ISLT Program in Fall 2024. I discovered ISLT during my PhD application process, and after an online meeting with Dr. Vanessa Dennen, I knew this was the right program for my doctoral studies. I am immensely grateful for the opportunity to be part of ISLT and believe this will be a turning point in my academic career. The faculty is outstanding, and the experience of being part of my cohort is truly amazing.

Hi! My name is Felipe Verneque, and I am originally from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. I am an Educational Specialist and hold a Master’s degree in Education. With over 15 years of professional experience in the field of education, I have worked as a teacher, guidance counselor, and most recently, as a military officer and Instructional Designer for the Brazilian Navy. After many years away from academia, I decided that 2024 would be the year to return and continue my academic journey. I am currently in my First Year of a PhD program and aim to deepen my expertise as a scholar, making meaningful contributions to my field of study.

Research Interests

Keywords: Social Media; Decision-Making; College Students.

My research interests focus on understanding the role of social media platforms in influencing undergraduate students’ decision-making processes in academic and professional contexts. As a pervasive social environment, social media is deeply integrated into the lives of college students. These digital platforms often serve as primary sources of information and guidance; however, their impact on critical educational decisions remains underexplored, presenting a significant opportunity for further research in this area.
